Windshield Replacement
A windshield is a structural part of your car, not a big window. We match your exact glass — rain sensor, lane camera, heated wiper park, acoustic interlayer, HUD — cut the old urethane back to a clean bead, prime the pinch weld, and set the new one properly.
Windshield Repair
Chips and short cracks filled with resin before they spread across the glass. Cheaper than replacing and usually done in your driveway while you carry on with your morning.
Car Window Replacement
Door glass, back glass, quarter glass and vent glass. Tempered glass shatters into thousands of pieces, so the vacuuming matters as much as the fitting.
Auto Mirror Replacement
Housings, mirror glass, and power or heated units. Clipped in a parking lot or folded back by a passing truck is one of our most common calls.
Water Leak Repair
Wet carpet, foggy windows, a musty smell, wind noise at speed. We find where the water is actually getting in before anyone starts selling you a new seal.

Andy Auto Glass is mobile first. We drive to Salinas addresses all day, up the coast through Watsonville to Santa Cruz, over the hill to Gilroy and San Jose, out to Hollister, and south down the valley to King City. Roughly a hundred miles in every direction.
- Somewhere to park. A driveway, a work lot or a quiet stretch of street. We need room to open both front doors.
- About an hour. Chip repairs are quicker. A full windshield runs 60–90 minutes plus cure time before you drive.
- Not necessarily you. For most jobs you do not have to stand there. Tell us where the car is and we will call when it is done.
- Dry weather, ideally. Urethane will not cure right in the rain. We will work under cover or move you rather than do it wrong.
The part most shops skip
New windshield? Your car’s camera probably needs recalibrating.
If your vehicle has lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking or even just a rain sensor, there is a camera looking out through the windshield — usually mounted behind the rear-view mirror. Move that glass by a couple of millimetres and you change where the camera is pointing.
What recalibration actually is
Two kinds. A static calibration uses a printed target board set at a measured distance in front of the car, on level ground. A dynamic calibration is done out on the road at a steady speed with a scan tool connected. Some vehicles need both, in order.
Why it is not optional
An uncalibrated camera does not always throw a warning light. It just aims wrong. The car may read a lane line as being somewhere it is not, or start braking a beat later than it should — and you would have no way of knowing until it mattered.
How we handle it
We tell you before the job whether your vehicle needs it, which type, and what it adds to the cost. If it is a calibration we do not perform ourselves, we say so and get it coordinated — rather than handing you the keys and letting you find out from a dashboard light next week.
Worth asking any shop on the phone: “Does my car need ADAS recalibration, and do you do it?” A shop that cannot answer that for your year, make and model is guessing at your windshield too.

Year, make and model gets us close. The options decide it: rain sensor, forward camera, heated wiper park, acoustic interlayer, head-up display, antenna and defroster grid on back glass. We check before we order so the right part shows up the first time.
We drive to you
Your driveway, your work lot, wherever the car is sitting. We put down our own covers, cut out the old urethane, clean and prime the pinch weld, treat any rust we find, and set the new glass.

Do you really come to me, or do I have to bring the car in?
We come to you. Andy Auto Glass is a mobile shop — there is no waiting room because you do not need one. We work in driveways, apartment lots, employee parking, farm yards and job sites all over Salinas and the surrounding counties.
All we need is somewhere to park with room to open both front doors, and ideally somewhere out of heavy rain.
How long does a windshield replacement take?
Sixty to ninety minutes for most vehicles. Cutting the old urethane out and prepping the pinch weld is the slow part; setting the new glass is quick.
Add time if your vehicle needs an ADAS recalibration afterward, and add cure time before you drive.
How soon can I drive after a new windshield?
It depends on the urethane and the temperature, and we will give you the exact number before we pack up. Plan on at least an hour on a warm day, longer when it is cold or damp.
That waiting period is called safe drive-away time. It is not a suggestion — the windshield is a structural part of the roof in a rollover, and the adhesive has to reach strength first. Leave a window cracked open an inch for the first day so a door slam does not pop the fresh seal.
Can my chip be repaired, or do I need a whole new windshield?
As a rule of thumb: damage smaller than a quarter, with no long legs running off it, and not sitting directly in the driver's line of sight, is usually repairable. Cracks under about six inches often are too.
Long cracks, damage that reaches the edge of the glass, and anything right in front of the driver's eyes generally means replacement. Send us a photo and we will tell you which one you have — including when a repair will do, even though a replacement is the bigger ticket.
Will my insurance cover it, and will my rate go up?
Glass claims are usually filed under comprehensive rather than collision. Many policies cover chip repair with little or no deductible, because carriers would rather pay for a repair now than a full windshield later.
Whether a claim affects your premium depends on your carrier and your policy — we cannot promise it will not, and any shop that does is guessing. Tell us your carrier when you call and we will walk you through what to expect and what your options are if you would rather pay out of pocket.
Is aftermarket glass as safe as the glass from the dealer?
Quality aftermarket glass is manufactured to the same federal safety standards as original equipment. Look at the bottom corner of any windshield and you will see the DOT number and the AS1 marking — that marking is the standard being met.
Where original equipment glass still matters is fit and optical clarity on vehicles with a camera or a head-up display looking through it. We will tell you honestly which category your vehicle falls into, and quote both if you want to compare.
Does my car need ADAS recalibration after a windshield replacement?
If your vehicle has lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking or a forward camera behind the mirror, then almost certainly yes. Moving the glass changes what that camera sees.
Ask us before we book the job. We will tell you whether your specific year, make and model needs it, whether it is a static or a dynamic calibration, and what it adds to the price — rather than handing you the keys and letting you find out later.
What if it rains on the day of my appointment?
Urethane does not cure properly in the wet, and a windshield set in the rain is a windshield that leaks later. If we can work under a carport, a garage or an overhang, we will. If not, we would rather move you to the next dry slot than do the job badly.
Chip repairs are the same — moisture in the break has to be drawn out before resin goes in.
Someone smashed my window and the car is not secure. Can you come today?
Call us. Broken door glass is the job we try hardest to fit in same-day, because an open car is not something you should have to leave overnight.
If we genuinely cannot reach you until tomorrow, we will tell you straight so you can make other arrangements instead of waiting on us.
How far do you travel?
About a hundred miles in every direction from Salinas. That covers the Monterey Peninsula, the whole Salinas Valley down to King City, the coast up through Watsonville and Santa Cruz, and north on 101 through Gilroy and Morgan Hill to San Jose. Hollister and San Benito County too.
If you are near the edge of that, call anyway. For a full replacement the drive is usually still worth it.
